The Pembury Society regrets to inform residents that Ken Watts, Honorary President passed away suddenly on 30th March in Pembury Hospital due to an aneurysm.

Ken, aged 83 lived in Romford Road and was passionate about the Pembury Society. We are all indebted to him for the great contribution he has made to Pembury.

As Membership Secretary for many years Ken created a comprehensive system of rounds for the distribution of the Society Newsletter and collection of subscriptions. His friendly approach built up a loyal band of distributors.

Ken stepped down as Chairman of the Society, which has nearly 500 members late last year.

He regularly represented the Society at Parish Council and Pembury Community Partnership meetings.

I’d like to add to the praise of Ken. He clearly had the interests of Pembury close to his heart and contributed hugely to Pembury Society. I enjoyed meeting him and discussing one or other aspect about the village with him. I shall certainly be one of the many in the village who will miss him.
