Cricket Club Evolving!

Cricket has been played in the village for well over a hundred years, and the Chalket Lane ground has historically been one of Pembury’s hidden gems!

The club has a long and proud tradition, and the current membership benefit from the huge amounts of time and effort put in by the loyal voluntary servants of the club over many years. The legacy to this day has provided an excellent pavilion, and a playing square to be proud of.

Saturday’s see the club field two sides in the Kent Regional League and our Sunday XI play throughout the summer against a variety of rival clubs and villages. This has proved to be an excellent place to nurture the talents of young and aspiring players together with those wishing to play in the more convivial atmosphere away from league cricket, this gives the team an enviable harmony of both youth and experience in a welcoming and social environment suitable for all.

Midweeks also see us field a competitive T-20 side in the peak of the summer, which in addition to the fast paced cricket, produces some great social nights.

Promoting and encouraging junior cricket has a huge emphasis placed on it at Pembury, and we have recently developed an exciting linkup with Invicta Cricket Coaching to complement our existing coaching setup. From January to April we coach school age groups Yr5 to Yr10 at the excellent facilities at Tonbridge School, and from May to August ages 7 and over up at the ground.

Embracing the village community is an essential ingredient to a successful club, and we are indebted to the many local residents and businesses that continue to support us, this not only helps maintain the high standards at the club both on and off the field, but enables us to plan for the seasons ahead.

We are particularly keen to welcome new players of all ages and abilities (junior and senior) as well as social members to come along and enjoy the comfort of our facilities and further develop the atmosphere in the club.

If you are interested in joining us, or are keen to find out further information, please don’t hesitate to call Richard Dawes (07827 909489) or Andy Weaver (07714 693997) e-mail the club at PemburyCC@gmail.com or look us up at http://pembury.play-cricket.com. We will be delighted to hear from you.

Roll on the summer!
